However Citibank is well known to give the offer to everyone, so simply call up the number above and confirm. Also Please note that Existing Checking Customers are NOT eligible for this offer.
Minimum deposit is $500 and there is a $30 per month Fee for the Citigold Package - which gives you the maximum bonus – 30,000 miles.
Account Fees
The Account Fees are waived for the first two months but after that you are on your own. Some people on the flyertalk thread have reported that the monthly service fee was waived for 3 and even up to 4 months, but your YMMV.
Waiting Period
The AAdvantage bonus miles will be posted by Citibank to your American Airlines AAdvantage account within 90 Days from the end of the statement period in this offer.
1099 – MISC
Earlier Citibank have put that they will send out a 1099 for the Bonus Miles, however this is no longer available on their account disclosures mainly due to this - Sen. Brown Calls on Citibank to End Deceptive Frequent Flier Tax Practice.
Direct Deposits Trick:
If you wish to get the direct deposit completed you may use a number of alternatives if you don’t have direct deposit at your work. You could use Paypal, Fidelity, ING, and many other services to trigger the direct deposit in order to register with Citibank.
There is absolutely NO special technique, simply execute a Regular transfer to Citibank and it should be sufficient.
To be on a safer side, I most certainly recommend using a couple of different financial institutes listed above to register your direct deposits. This is just to be extra careful and to make sure that you qualify for the AAdvantage Bonus Miles.
